Privacy Policy
Effective October 29, 2026
This policy explains what information the StudyHatch app and the studyhatch.app website handle, why, and the choices you have. StudyHatch is made by ApexGrid Software Development (“we”, “us”). Questions: studyhatch.support@gmail.com.
1. Using StudyHatch without an account
You can use StudyHatch as a guest. Your decks, cards, images, review history and settings are stored only on your device. We don't receive them. Deleting the app deletes this data.
2. Information we collect if you sign in
- Email address. Used to send you sign-in codes and to identify your account. We don't use it for marketing.
- Your study data. Decks, notes and cards, the images you add to cards, your review history (which cards you studied, when, and how you rated them) and your app settings. We store these so they can sync between your devices and be restored if you reinstall the app.
We don't ask for your name, phone number, location, contacts or payment details, and we don't access your camera or photos except when you choose to add a picture to a card.
3. Information processed automatically
- App updates. When the app checks for updates, our update service (Expo) receives standard technical information such as your IP address, device platform and app version, in order to deliver the right update.
- Crash reports. If you've allowed it in your device settings, Apple or Google may share anonymous crash reports with us to help fix problems.
- Website. Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard server logs, such as IP address and pages requested, for security and reliability. The website uses no cookies or analytics.
4. How we use information
Only to run StudyHatch: signing you in, syncing and backing up your study data, delivering updates, keeping the service secure, and answering your support requests. We don't use your data for advertising, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone.
5. Files you import and decks you share
Files you import (for example Anki packages or CSV lists) are read on your device. If you're signed in, the resulting cards sync like any other cards. When you share a deck, StudyHatch creates a file containing that deck's cards and images. It doesn't include your review history or account details. You choose who to send it to, using your device's share options.
6. Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run StudyHatch. They process data only on our behalf:
- Supabase: account sign-in and cloud storage of synced study data and images.
- Our email delivery provider: sending sign-in codes.
- Expo: building the app and delivering app updates.
- Vercel: hosting this website.
- Apple and Google: app distribution and, if you allow it, crash reports.
These providers may store data in the United States or other countries. We'll also disclose information if required by law.
7. How long we keep data
We keep your account and synced study data until you delete your account. Deleting a deck or card removes it from sync. After you delete your account, your data is removed from our active systems right away. Copies in our providers' backups expire on their normal schedule, typically within 30 days.
8. Your choices and rights
- Delete your account at any time in the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, all synced decks, cards, review history and images, and the copy on that device. You can also ask us by email. See Delete your account.
- Access or correct your data: everything you've created is visible and editable in the app, or email us for a copy.
- Stop syncing by signing out. Your cards stay on your device.
Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, UK or California), you may have additional rights, such as the right to object to processing or to complain to a data protection authority. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Each account can only read and change its own data, and images are stored privately. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep access to your email account safe, as it's how you sign in.
10. Children
StudyHatch is intended for students aged 13 and over and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If the changes are significant, we'll also let you know in the app before they take effect.
